Turning Educators in Remote Areas into Agents of Change
GenAI Education Frontier, an initiative by The Tipping Point and 100mentors, aims at reshaping the landscape of education through the power of Generative Artificial Intelligence. As winners of data.org's Generative AI Skills Challenge with the support of Microsoft, we equip teachers with the necessary skills to integrate GenAI into their daily workflows and enhance their educational work.
About the program
The GenAI Education Frontier program is short, interactive and focuses on the use of Generative AI in the context of teaching. Teachers are trained and can practice on the capabilities of the GenAI tools. At the same time, they approach the concerns surrounding them, in order to integrate them effectively and responsibly into their teaching.
Our Approach
The project promotes the creation of a community of educators with the skills to use Generative AI. Our goal is to train 1000 educators across Greece, with a focus on rural, island and remote areas. The educators will act as catalysts for the proper use of GenAI by their students and will contribute positively to the digital upgrading of local communities.
Our Impact
Key Results and Impact
-
Wide Reach and Diverse Participation
Engaged 1123 educators across all 13 regions of Greece, representing 27 different subject areas including language, IT, science, and health.
-
Doubling of GenAI Adoption
Among the participants, the number of educators using GenAI tools for educational purposes more than doubled, from 46.7% before the program to 93.2% after.
-
Significant Increase in GenAI Awareness
Based on pre- and post-program surveys, educators' understanding of GenAI tools improved significantly, moving from a neutral stance to feeling confident and knowledgeable about using these tools in their teaching practices.
-
High Satisfaction and Confidence
Participants rated their overall experience highly, with an average score of 4.65/5, reflecting increased confidence in using GenAI tools effectively and responsibly.
-
Upskilling of educators
The program not only significantly enriched educators' digital skills and teaching methods, but also focused on enhancing crucial soft skills relevant to GenAI prompt engineering, like creativity, critical thinking, and problem solving skills.
-
Creation of a comprehensive open-source library
with 568 prompts for key topics such as preparing educational material, developing interactive lesson plans, and generating personalized learning activities. These resources provide educators with ready-to-use materials that enhance classroom effectiveness.
Timeline & Action
-
Educators of all educational levels and disciplines throughout Greece, with a focus on rural, island, and remote areas.
-
They develop the necessary skills for the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI).
They save time and improve the quality of their daily workflows.
They utilize and participate in the development of libraries of questions/prompts, which will allow for a more effective preparation and implementation of their teaching.
They are supported with direct communication from experts for responsible integration of GenAI in education.
They become part of a global network of educators who are able to use GenAI to create innovative educational practices.
Teachers will receive a certificate for the parts of the program (training, mentoring and/or GenAI prompt libraries) that they have completed.
-
Registration period: 20 November 2023 - 14 January 2024
Implementation Period: 9 January 2024 - 26 April 2024
Actions & Implementation
-
Training
Participants will enroll in a 2-hour asynchronous training, followed by a 2-hour synchronous training (per school education level and discipline) on Generative AI and the tools that educators can practically and responsibly use in their teaching.
-
Prompt Libraries
Participants will have access to a platform with a collection of questions/prompts related to their daily teaching and learning workflows. All educators can utilize and actively contribute to the prompts shared throughout their community.
-
Mentoring App
Through the use of an app that combines GenAI and human input, educators will be able to ask questions and receive personalized guidance on topics relevant to the introduction and utilization of GenAI in education.
About The Tipping Point
The Tipping Point (TTP) is an NGO aiming to empower today’s youth to enhance their consciousness, when they are called to make their once-in-a-lifetime decisions, and to make learning more experiential, engaging and relevant to real life.
With the help of technology, students & teachers set the agenda of their meetings with professionals worldwide (mentors) who interact with the students via live video. Through a secure and structured digital environment, students on islands, in remote regional villages, marginalized urban areas or large cities, broaden their horizons & choices, receive answers to their questions from professionals worldwide - it could be doctors and farmers from a village nearby, or a NASA engineer from Florida - whom otherwise they could never meet.
As of today, 800+ schools and communities across Greece have joined programs and actions of TTP, supported by 1,900+ educators and the contribution of 2,000+ mentors, giving the opportunity to 55,000+ students to get inspired and connect with the modern job market from the comfort of their classroom
About 100mentors
100mentors is the only GenAI-powered app designed for each team's specific projects. Its primary aim is to train the workforce of companies and organizations with the necessary skills to use GenAI sustainably and effectively, always maintaining a human-centered approach.
By emphasizing the skill of the decade - asking better questions and building better prompts - and certifying employees in this skill, organizations can achieve time savings, and higher quality results in the workflows of each role/team.
For this goal, 100mentors provides tailored team training through Masterclasses and Bootcamps where the capabilities of GenAI, the risks that can arise, and the importance of human knowledge, always tailored to their needs, are addressed.

FAQs
-
The GenAI Education Frontier program is an initiative that intends to reshape the landscape of education through the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI). Its goal is to train educators across the country in the use of AI in teaching and improving learning experiences.
-
Generative Artificial Intelligence refers to a specific category of artificial intelligence that is capable of generating new content or data that has not previously existed. This is often done using genetic algorithms, neural networks and other machine learning methods.
-
The applications of Generative AI are many and varied. It can be used to create written content, images, music, but also to enhance virtual reality and adapt content to the needs of users.
-
The program is aimed at educators of all levels, with a focus on rural, island and remote areas of Greece.
-
Participating educators will gain deep knowledge about the use of Generative AI in teaching. This will enable them to prepare their lessons more effectively, provide personalized instruction and enhance their students' critical thinking and creativity skills.
-
Indicatively, through this training, one will be able to learn what Generative Artificial Intelligence is, why the skill of asking good questions is important, what are the risks and limitations of using GenAI in education, and what is the role of humans in this new era.
-
The application period will run from 20 November to 14 January 2024. The program will be implemented from 9 January to 26 April 2024.
-
The program is free of charge for educators of all levels.
-
Thank you for your interest. Please note that we are no longer accepting applications, as the submission period has concluded.
-
The program will be implemented remotely. Participants will have access to an online training platform, where they will attend a 2-hour asynchronous training followed by a 2-hour synchronous training.
-
Yes, the asynchronous part of the course contains information that one will need in order to understand the synchronous part of the training.
-
There will be options with the dates and times of the synchronous training sessions to choose from, based on the participants’ discipline and the level they teach at.
-
n order to receive the certification, one must complete both the asynchronous and the synchronous parts of the training.
-
One must complete the asynchronous part of the course first, which includes videos and quizzes as an introduction to Generative AI, and then participate in the synchronous training, in order to receive the certification.
-
The 100m application, through which the mentoring process will take place, is available for mobile phones running iOS: 13 and Android: 6 (marshmallow). More information on how to install and use the app can be found in the training platform.
